The Wonders of Science Through Nature
The Apple Orchard

When we think of science we of think of someone serious looking in a lab coat mixing bubbling chemicals. We must rethink our notion of science.  We should, instead, think of children digging in dirt looking for worms or other life under our feet, scooping pulp from a pumpkin, or taking care of a pet.  Children learn through play and by exploring the world around them.  Outdoor sensory play provides children with delightful ways to experience the joy of self discovery, especially when these activities are child initiated and supported by parents or teachers. Taking walks through trails, woods are excellent ways to stimulate questions, inquiries, and discussions. The backyard is a great place for children to experience nature. With summer fast approaching, most of the children time should be spent outdoors. Spending time outdoors brings the potential of many fun, meaningful experiences and lots of treasured memories.
